TDK +58 Days. After completely owning my ass at theaters all 3 times I saw it back in July 24th -- esp the wad- and mind-blowing IMAX version -- it's time for another shamefully alone trip to the theater for a more somber, intellectual appraisal of what in July was a very emotional journey.
Will it still hold up? Will it ring true or hollow? Will the 4th viewing finally solve the bizarre conclusion to the dinner party scene. You know, the falling 703 stories after the Batman does his now-standard "My gravity beats your gravity" Bat-HALO drop; you know, The Dark Rescuer and Rescuee falling nonchalantly onto a car roof -- do those really cushion your fall as well as all movies say they do? -- and whispering sweet nothing's into his ex's ear; you know, how Joker-and-Crew's exploits are completely excised from the narrative following the rescue, with no mention ever given as to why they gave up the search for Dent?
(Can there PLEASE be a goddamn director's cut of this, Nolan? People, I want what you want: a hard R, Non-truncated Dinner Party Edition Blu-Ray. Make it happen.)
This may sound like typical fanboy ranting or carping, but I point that shit out like I would my girl's crossed eyes, club foot and linebacker shoulders -- the very minor flaws that endear me to my truest love.
